That is correct temperature for the low speed fan to kick in Trikey, I have checked both my V6 cars this morning they both do the correct thing and bring the low speed on at 105oC then the temperature drops down as expected

Yes, performed well on Dorchester’s first trip out since the engine went in!

My experience on this is my KV6 auto kicks in at low speed (3 speed fan) at 100 and turns off at 95. Always has.
The 190 typhoon that I owned before it went to Trikey was exactly the same. On the ones we have checked at the Nano meets all were 100 or 101 start up on low speed.

This post from Jules indicates that it is the second speed that activates on the KV6 at 106

Going back even further and possibly in more depth here is Keiths explanation

How strange? Definitely low speed kicking in at 105, the temp then drops to 92/93 before it cuts out.

It is very strange indeed, particularly as 105˚ doesn't appear anywhere in the MG Rover literature I have. Your cut-out temperature also differs from the official version of 96˚ (KV6) and 98˚(1.8 & diesel).

I asked Dave Lincs if he has obtained this temperature from the IPK diagnostics but he hasn't answered. Is this the method you used Andy, or T4 maybe?

I checked both of mine earlier using IPK both like Trikeys car 105oC then cooling engine perfectly as expected I can check on T4 if I want to but this thread is about helping a guy who has been told he has head gasket failure who I feel has a dead cooling fan a d possible fault with the oil cooler

Exactly, as all this technical chat does nothing to help the OP.

He'll probably have steam coming out of his ears soon.---
