Default bonnet not opening

I have an MG ZT-T SPORTS 180 2004 reg and the bonnet will not open. Mechanic has tried numerous things..one cable pulled right through whilst he was trying to fix it..various suggestions tried..one was cutting a hole in the bumper whuch we haven't done yet, another was going in through an inspection hatch..done but not worked. Desperate here as just spent 3000 on the car as we love it so much. Any ideas folks?

Hello Susan, you'll have to contact a forum moderator for information on this. As a newcomer/visiter with a single post you may have to stay around for a while and increase your post number to get what you need. Good luck.

Strange because the inspection hatch method usually works, there’s a Youtube guide … other ides then.

Saw through the latch pin(s), use rags & wooden wedges to increase the bonnet open gap as much as possible.

One owner managed to fashion a special spanner and remove the two on each side retaining bolts holding the latch pins. I’ve generally found them not to be that easily moved.

Another I heard of got a couple of friends to bounce the front of the car while he pulled the inside release, on an upwards bounce they heaved on the bonnet gap and it opened.

Or try the hatch method with a bit more effort.

Good luck
