Could this oily liquid in the air box be clogging the sensor in the winter
Also my guts are telling me to block this hole in the air box in order not to loose pressure.

The hole is a broken mounting rubber just like the other one, there should be two.

All V6s have this collection of sludge, I clean mine twice a year, clean out the gauze filters and make sure the breather holes are unblocked (one of them will be).

Hi, thanks for sharing..
I should do the same.
Just today I was wondering if I can clear the pin hole in the front cam cover by just pulling out the breather pipe and sticking something like long needle.
Do you suggest that one specific breather pipe gets always blocked? Mine are so brittle I would avoid messing with them if not necessary.

As the breather pinhole is at an angle of 90˚ to the tube, unfortunately you can't. The cam covers have to be removed. The breather tubes do become hardened and brittle. It's normal to have to renew them at some point during ownership. Compared with broken springs, ARB links and front suspension arm bushes, the breather tubes are a walk in the park!

Yes, the smaller one always gets blocked, I doubt if you'll shift it with a needle, a 1.5mm drill would probably work better. But as the front cam cover is so easily removed (compared to the rear one) why not do it properly and clean the gauze filters too?

Replacement breather pipes aren't that expensive from DMGRS.

I ended up plumbing rubber tube pipe for the larger pipes to the throttle body.
The smaller pipe which has a one way valve on it and runs from the battery side rear rocker cover is the real pain to get to.
That breather outlet on the rear rocker cover is tiny and gets blocked easily and you cant get to it to clean it without pulling a heap of bits off.
I found the small one way valve was coming apart and sucking air.
Yet to find a part number for that.

Front breather pinhole at 90 degs? I'm not willing to go out to the garage at this time of night, but are you sure?

Breathers on the front rocker are straight in.
When you unplug the pipe you can see them.

Hi Mike,

I think that the answer is that on the left-hand bank, where the breather tubes are perpendicular to the cover, the pinhole won't be easily accessible without removal. On the right-hand bank however, the tubes are connected longitudinally which does not involve a right angle bend. I believe that this is shown in lovema75's photograph here:



In my experience though, even with the cam cover on the bench, it can be quite difficult to even find the pinhole if it's blocked with solid carbon! Apart from the poor visibility, using a probe from the outside pushes the carbon back into the engine which is undesirable and risks the suction pulling it back into the pinhole again!

Yes, I know thanks Simon as I've done this job on approximately five 75s, which is why, in answer to the OP's comment about the front bank, I was surprised at your right angle comment but we now appear to be in agreement.
