Hello Matthew

Were you able to fit the sensor plates?

If you have fitted the sensor plates please can you advise how you achieved this.

Thank you

Clyde

The sensor plates or reed switch actuators or as I prefer to call them Magnets can all be fitted as shown here. This arrangement means that they are not visible to anyone so just what I was after.

Drivers door (O/S on my RHD car)

The magnet is under the rear of the kick plate. You can just see it if you squint.
O/S passenger door

Once again under the rear of the kick plate.

The N/S placement is a little different. Position chosen to closely match O/S positioning

N/S front door.

The centre of the magnet is 4cm forward of the rear of the kick plate.

N/S rear door.

The centre of the magnet is 8cm forward of the rear of the kick plate. The reason it is not 4cm is that the puddle light body would be pushing against the rear seat leaving impression marks. We don't want that.

I didn't need to remove the kick plates but made very sure that the area where the magnet was to be stuck to was clean and dry. I slid a cloth under it to clean away any dirt then sprayed isopropyl alcohol (IPA) under there and used the cloth again to leave a good surface for the double sided tape on the magnets to adhere to.

The puddle light casing is opaque so you can see the batteries in them if you look closely enough.
I got some rechargeable batteries (1800 Ah) via ebay in Red to match.

With battery cover installed.

They don't look that bright in the flesh.
Hth.

I really like the look of the Rover logos but would love to have club logos as well.
Imagine how good these would look!
The slides can be swapped over in a jiffy so you can choose which ones you want depending on the occasion (I would leave the club logos in all the time)

Sean (radioguy) needs a bunch of us to order them to make it worthwhile.
I'll be putting in a provisional order for 4 on Monday but I won't be able to have them unless more people request them.

Hello Matthew

Did you retro fit kick plates, if so which ones did you use for the magnet fitting?

My 75 is a facelift model with no kick plates, but I would be able to go to a local breakers to source some if there a particular set that fits best.

Thanks

Clyde

Hi Clyde,
Mines a 2003 Mark1 so the kick plates were there all along. I can't be entirely sure but my best guess would be that retrofitting would be easily done. Probably just a few holes drilled for the clips and away you go. Thing is...it's a guess.
Perhaps someone more knowledge than me will be along to give you a definitive answer.
Maybe ask it as a new post to get more views?
Sorry I can't be of more help with your question.
Matt

Edit:
Ive posted a question regarding fitting on Mark II cars so hopefully will find out some time soon.

I have made a Battery powered specific how-to here,

I hope it explains a few things people may have been having trouble with.

The only thing stopping me buying these units is the colour. If they came in black, I'd get 2 sets!

Spray paint them or cover them in vinyl wrap. It wouldn't take much mucking about
