Default Avg Scrap value

Anyone recently scrapped a diesel saloon? Just need to get an idea of the average so I don't get ripped off by the scrappy. Sadly going to be sending mine off to the scrappers (after removing anything worth selling off on Ebay) as it's no longer viable due to extensive rear end tinworm at 195k miles.

Scrap value is usually around the £150 -£200 mark which you would most likely get from someone whom is after a spares car, that is if all the best items have not been taken off.

This is interesting, mine is sorn at the mo while I strip it. I don't want or expect anything for it when scrapped. My question is, can a scrapyard refuse to take it? I can drive it there so no charges for taking it away, but can they refuse, or are they somehow legally bound to take it?

Thanks Arctic, that's about what I thought, I expect from a scrapper that would be the same with a few of choice bits removed (halogen projectors, headlight wash, and a few trim bits)?
Curious question from Heddy, AFAIK there's no way to force a private business to buy anything. But a scrapyard is interested in scrap, whether they'll pay you what you want for it, or anything for that matter is down to what you agree with them I suppose.

My local scrapyard pays £70 per ton if you drop it off. That’s about £105 for a Rover 75.
I’d like to know of any place that pays more!

I give my local scrappy my old shells free as he does me some good deals when I need bits from him.

Few years ago now the clutch went on my 1.8 club. Short MOT and scruffy.
I popped it on Gumtree next morning and it sold in 20 minutes for £300. Chap (said he was a breaker) turned up with a recovery wagon a hour later. Bought my green v6 from a local couple and it was on the drive by tea-time :¬)

I reckon its always worth a try on gumtree or facebook before approaching scrap dealers.

Hi Steve,
Current scrap value is in Kent is £192 for a 75 subject to it being complete, ie cat present, as that’s nearly half the value. but I do know prices fluctuate a bit around the country. The questioner may find this site helpful

Recently arranged for mine to be collected by local outfit and was told £100...

Had tried to sell on here for around a year but no takers ( easily worth it as a spares car ) and now I'm home for xmas thought I'd sort it out. The day he was to collect it his recovery vehicle had a driveshaft break which also caused other damage- so it's with me a wee while longer yet.
