Friday the 13th!
After my shinanagins with a broken bleed nipple, I bit the bullet and ordered a new caliper from Rimmers. But, true to form, it did not go well for me:-
Damaged before I even got it. No marks on packaging, so it must have gone in the box like that! Luckily, I had a spare bleed nipple in my spares box and the broken one came out after a bit of straightening and winding! Check the clout mark on the "spanner" section! That was some hit. Or a drop? Paid extra for rapid delivery too!

That caliper appears to have been in Rimmers warehouse for a while Mike! I hope you have spoken to them about the damage.

I have spoken to them and they are sending a new bleed nipple I believe. If you look at the nipple closely (???) you can see the stress fractures in between the threads!I didn't have much choice as the car was on a jack in the driveway and we have family coming tomorrow and need the parking space!

call me a sceptic but i wonder if that as been returned before and they just sent it out again, trying it on someone else, how long would it take to remove and check the nipple before the caliper was shipped out.

There was no "manufacturers" box, just a cardboard tag attached with string. Having paid full whack, I was a bit disappointed but needed the car back on the road as it was in the way. Needs must and no doubt their warranty will be Okay. Hopefully there was no damage to the threads in the caliper. They looked and felt okay when being fitted!

Yes.
That hasn't just happened for it to be so discoloured at the fracture site, if it had happened in the delivery process it would still be a clean looking break. This is a scam piece and not a shock in the post covid world, there's profiteering going on in every aspect of life.

Friday 13th
Bad luck day! On the way to visit my Mum in the nursing home as she is in last few days of life, nothing more they can do. On the A5 just before the motorway put my foot down to overtake a van, Copperleaf made a funny noise lost all power engine management light came on, pulled over and dead, taken back to my local garage dropped valve on number 3 cylinder, terminal. Such a sad ending for my favourite car. Got a Peugeot 407 from my daughter's boss to get me to see Mum for one last time in the morning (hopefully).

A pic of the attached label:-
I did ring to get their permission to try and remove the broken nipple before attempting it.
