Temperate gauge not working and fan running
Hi
Today, my temperature gauge has stopped working completely so it’s just sitting on the cold position. I also noticed that my fan happens to now be running all the time. Any idea on what the issue could be? Car is a MK2 75 1.8 Turbo. Many thanks.

Its either the coolant temp sensor or the wiring. If the signal from the sensor is lost it goes to a fail safe mode running the fan constantly.

Mechanic plugged it onto his machine and it didn’t flag up any fault with coolant temperature sensor. He says it could be thermostat or water pump.
I still think it’s the coolant temperature sensor as per your advise….?

It might be a fault with the fan controller. Mine failed recently. V. expensive (~£450 + VAT), so check the cheaper opions first.

Agree with Stevestrat, but it looks like you want confirmation. So activate the car's own OBD using T- Cut's guide https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...ad.php?t=55585 no reading in section 7 coolant, will confirm the diagnosis.
