Been out and had a look and they look good. They are bright enough to use without the xenons

Well, I don't know why but my car does not like number plate LED's, the 501's you sold me are fine, but the number plate one keep failing!! this time they have both failed, and one has got so hot that one of the LED's has actually fallen off!! but I didn't get a bulb blown warning??
Maybe it is because it has had towing electrics fitted

Sounds like the soldering had melted, which as you said means it's very hot! They are designed to get hot but not so hot they fall apart. Would a tow increase current through the bulb circuits? Anyway, will send you a PM shortly about it.
The bulb failure light on the dash only comes on when both bulbs are blown and perhaps only when the lights are turned on (somebody correct me if I'm wrong).

Got mine in today. Rounded the bottom corners just to help them into the holders. Waiting for it to get dark now so I can fiddle with the angle of them to see which way,(if any), they produce a more even light. Getting passed swmbo is gonna be the hard bit!!
I do agree. They be nice and bright. cheers again Carl.
