Default Front seat belt query

The driver's seat belt on my 2002 CDT Club SE Tourer doesn't retract of its own accord even after I've cleaned & siliconed the tensioner. It does go in if I feed it but it's not right. Before I set about replacing it, is there anything I should know about renovating it?

Dougie.

Pulling the belt fully out and cleaning with furniture polish is supposed to help. If it doesn't there's more suggestions in this thread.

I won't be spraying that on the webbing in view of the potential for chemical degradation to the material. I will though give it a proper soaking in a bowl and apply some rub-a-dub-dub with a little fabric cleaner as that contains no constituent substances which will harm it. Hopefully it'll make a difference.

Thanks for the link.
