rover75 deisel auto.
Hi. car was standing for a few days would not start, thought it was the battery so replaced with a new one. this time turned over but would not fire up. Tried next day it started, then stopped then started then it ran for a longer time. I tried next day it started so I took it for a drive about 5 miles out it cut out. AA came out I started it up an rev up to 2rpm , he said no faults showing also car running smooth so no fuel blockage, it got me home about 1 mile without cutting out. Can anyone out there tell me what it could be. Thanks Roy,.

As Mark said above check your plenum and check that the ECU hasn't been flooded.
Is the under bonnet fuel pump running when you turn on the ignition, if it's a Facelift model then check for fuel flow at the filter head by putting the inlet pipe into a suitable container. If the fuel pump is not supplying fuel then the ECU is a likely suspect. If this is the case send me a message and I can test it for you and possibly repair it if needed. If it is beyond repair then I do stock replacement ECU's Russ

hi roy as big russ said earlier it could be a possible ecu at fault as you live in birmingham big russ is your nearest option but there is brian up north east as well . i know russ personally hes a great guy, and so is brian ( never met but sounds a great guy) but both are well qualified to sort out your problems and are not over priced.both of them do a postal service and a quick turn around to get you up and running again rgds mark
