There does seem to be a few set ups for connecting axle to motor. I have asked Hornby for a service sheet for one of their new Minis to see how that is driven. Looking at this years cars, some really lovely offerings but at £40 a time, too much for me. I remember getting them new for £3. Appreciate the links. macafee2 |

Have you contacted Hornby about sending it in for repair? I've not had to do it, but I've read a lot of good things about people sending trains in for repair and hornby fixing it and returning it free of charge.

I have a Kirby vacuum cleaner which was made in 1979 and everything is available to buy, yes every single part.
Now that might be one thing, but no, the first machine to bear the Kirby name, was the Kirby Model 2C launched in 1936 and you can still buy all of the parts. An expensive item, but James Dyson could take a leaf out their book, and realise people will buy an expensive machine, and it doesn't need to be a load of plastic tat thrown together in the Far East and marketed as the greatest thing since sliced bread Anyway I have fond memories of my Scalextric, although not a Minimodels original, it is a Rovex, and car wise a pair of Mini Clubmans, a TR7 and a Mk1 Escort. Coincidentally, our washing machine died just yesterday - the drum separated from the mechanism holding it in place and can be rattled up & down now. Cost of repair is estimated at more than three quarters the price of replacing it. Nothing is built to last these days - we've only had it 24 years.
(I wonder how many years we'll get out of its replacement ...)

Was that a white Escort? I still have mine, really love the car and a new model and be bought today. I doubt there will be much difference between the two, may be working head lights. Ok, favourite Scalextric cars MK1 Escort Cortina Rovers Police Cars Lorries Porsche GT3R Sierra Cosworth Porsche 935 Motorbikes BMW M3 AUDI QUATTRO old style BMW 3.0CSL SUBARU IMPREZA some nice Vauxhall Vectra's, one or two Capri's and TR7's. One Sunday when I was swimming with the cubs my dad got be a huge amount of second hand scalextric, I was over joyed and another time we went by train to Margate to a shop and I got a few 1960's cars. I could not have been that old 8 - 12 perhaps. macafee2 |

Later had many escorts, the white C052, plus a couple more black ones, one of which I converted to a pick up truck with alley cat wheels Including too, the Westwood racing one in two tone brown with working front lights. The quality and detail of the modern cars is fantastic, and even the range. I think at one stage we had all the models contained within the 17th-20th edition catalogues (all of the 20th, was my goal at the time lol), included within the collection. Complete attic layout, even with various tunnels and track side lighting.

I still have all of my Scalextric stuff up in the loft, and like Alan, the Escort is identical to this one.
The actual set itself was bought for my seventh birthday, and as I recall it was an awfully hot summer that year Brian |

The new double inner curve is a bit of a faff, it is 3 parts, before the corner, the corner and after the corner must make it expensive to buy. macafee2 |
