question about wheel locking nuts, and bad garage?
Hey guys, its been a while
well i had my ZT190 in for service/MOT last month (just 66K on a '02 plate), and when i got it back the locking wheel nut was missing aparently, the garage has to take the wheel off for part of the service so after a phone call, they tell me they may have a spare , so along i popped, and they just handed me a locking wheel nut key, saying "there all the same bla bla, thats a generic one" ... and it fits perfectly what that's left me asking is, is there more than 1 locking wheel nut ??? (for a OEM set) please don't post the number etc To be honest its kinda left me wondering if i trust them

Forget the locking wheel nuts, just fit an ordinary wheel bolt.
Locking wheel nuts and how do you get them off, cause one of the highest number of questions on here. On a 02 plate ZT the locking wheel bolts will be a number 12. Here are some. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-TO...item338536b676 Dave T |

As Dave says, I wouldn't even bother replacing locking nuts with locking nuts. I'd just pop fresh, normal wheel nuts onto your car. Alloys wheels on ZTs/75s aren't worth much to anyone outside the club, and I just find locking nuts an irritation. Also, being a 190, I imagine it's got Straights, which have centre caps anyway.

There are only two numbers of locking wheel nuts as far as I know, number 11 and number 12, with number 11 being quite rare.
But hey I am good at being wrong, so somebody put me right |

Pre facelift 75's and ZT's were fitted with No.12, mainly and the not so common No. 11 locking wheel bolts. Dave T |

I havent heard of anyone having their alloy wheels stolen for years.
I know when alloy wheels were a rare commodity they were stolen left right and centre. But now with nearly every car having them, they aren't a high theft item anymore. I wouldn't worry about locking wheel nuts. I removed the locking wheel nuts from my dads car some time ago, and he still has his wheels attached. He lives in Bristol so crime is a popular pastime there too. |
