Navall stopped and poss draining battery?
Hi,
I've been very pleased with the system fitted by a previous owner, unfortunately last week the radio stopped playing, all seemed ok, just no volume. Struggled to turn the system off, eventually succeeded by holding in the on/off button. Now it won't come back on. Seems to be power in the system as I can hear it wurring when turning ignition on and off. Have tried holding the on/off button for long periods inc whilst turning the ignition on but no joy. Jumped in the car today and the battery was dead so had to jump start. Not sure if they are connected i.e. was the power to the radio working in the background despite the engine being off; clutching at straws hear probably! Any guidance gratefully received. Thanks, Martin |

Martin,
The most important thing is to recharge your battery using a smart external charger for at least 24 hours, preferably more, if you want it to give a good, long life. Regarding the cause of this, it would be a bit of a coincidence wouldn't it, that your battery decided to die immediately after you had trouble switching off your Navall. There's one easy way to find out. Remove the fuse or otherwise disconnect the power supply to the Navall and see what happens. Simon

Thanks Simon for your thoughts, now, I can dig out my owners manual but as I'm sat at my desk the first and easiest option is to ask someone clearly very knowledgeable.....where would I find the fuse and how do I get the system out?
Sincere thanks |

Navalls tend to need the eyebrow removing (cover underneath then 2 screws) to access their 2 retaining screws.
I'd just leave the battery disconnect from the car for 30 mins or so, that worked for me when my Navall did similar. |

Thanks Simon! Got the NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-! Fuse removed and car also now on a proper battery charger.
Turns out that the wurring noise wasn't the stereo. I'll leave for a while then refit the fuse to see if there has been a re-set. There are two small slots at the base of the unit so I assume these are for some kind of removal tool. I'll delve in to my workshop to see what I can poke in there (safely now). Thanks for your help. Will let you/forum know of any successes! Cheers |

ah, thanks mbonwick. Interesting that you had a similar issue. I assume all was ok after 30 minute disconnect?

To be honest I just whipped the eyebrow off and pulled it out to disconnect at the back of the Navall - I needed to reposition the wifi antenna to stop a rattle anyway. |
