The end.
My big brother died this afternoon at 3.28pm, I was holding his right hand and his wife was holding his left, their daughter was on facetime from Catalonia, I held the phone so that she was part of it. I watched as his breathing got shallow and whispered to his wife that he was going fast, he took a breath and opened his eyes wide, he saw all of us there and gave a half smile, he then died with that on his face at that moment, we laid him back from out of the pillows and blankets that have surrounded him, I then put him into a respectful position with his arms across him and then we called in the doctors to certify him. He was my big brother and I told him how much I loved him today before he died. He was my only brother and I'll miss him more than I can try to understand now.

I'm really sorry to hear your news Mike, it is always hard on those left behind when a loved one passes away, but you were there to comfort him in the final hours, and he went knowing those who loved him were there for him.

Mike, that is so kind of you to share your Brother with us all, and to share your family's private moment. I doubt anybody can remain unmoved.

Seldom have I read so much raw emotion, respect and love condensed into so few words. Should bring a tear to anyone's eyes. Rest in Peace big brother and sincere condolences to those who will miss him greatly.
