And then there was the Royal Navy. Which almost singlehandedly destroyed the transfer of slaves by sea. So taking the profit out of it and the decline of it.
History is what we were according to observers of the time. Not all of them were either genuine or valid and it is a measure of where we are now and what we are now, and why the whole wide world wants to be here, taking their lives in their hands in their desperation to be part of a humanistic and benevolent nation. If we examine history we should take the long view to measure the inhumanity of Man to Man by looking through the telescope and microscope by both ends rather than the myopic option favoured by our critics.

It seems the line in Rule, Britannia that is being objected to includes the word ‘Britons’.
Not ‘male’ Britons, nor Northern, Southern, female, young, old, strong, weak, or any other clarification. So the sentiment includes all Britons, even who are objecting to it. By the same token it doesn’t say folk of other nationalities should be slaves - and they have their own patriotic songs, some much more jingoistic than these two ‘anthems’. Sorry if this offends anyone - see my sig
