Default A future drive after lockdown?

Big opening day yesterday in the mountains of Sweden for a road that is only open during the summer months. Cleared a height of up to seven metres of snow! Lots of Swedish text but perhaps the pictures are of interest: https://sverigesradio.se/sida/artike...rtikel=7489923

Such a beautiful country and lovely folk. I really enjoyed my visits to Sweden, enjoyed the racing at Anderstorp and I remember having a somewhat bizarre business meeting/dinner at "Big" Bengt Erlandsson's High Chapperall
Many years ago now though.

Nice to see you using the local "proper" - give it a couple of years and you'll be using "directly" too

Shame that there are no ferries anymore, makes visits to Scandinavia difficult, hardly ever see UK license plates anymore. Same also true going the other way, years since I was back in England - it's not just the flying but the trouble of getting a hire car which you're unused to, sitting on the other side and changing gear with your left hand while trying to remember to drive on the other side. All too much trouble, reckon the tourist ministers should do something to revive the ferries.

A bag of salt would have sorted that!

A father & his son started work clearing the snow on the 23rd of April. Had to stop work several times as the snow was so hard the sheer bolts on the snow blower broke and that is no Dinky toy.
One good thing about roads in the north is that it’s generally too cold for salt to work so the cars are usually free from serious rust.

Question

Do you use jet engines in some capacity for snow/ice clearance or are they confined for more specialised use such as airports/airfields.

Interesting question as I've never heard of jet engines being used (expensive!) so I looked - here's the website for Stockholm's Arlanda airport, all in foreign I'm afraid but no mention of jet engines - just lots of big machines, snow ploughs & snow blowers mainly, you might find the pictures interesting. https://www.swedavia.net/airport/arl...%20version.pdf
