Not torquing or over torqued wheel bolts is a huge no no at work. We are randomly checked and quality controlled by a member of staff internally and also by an external company with financial implications if incorrect.
My torque wrench is digital and you can watch the reading rise so you don’t over torque. When getting to the correct torque it beeps and vibrates through the handle. If you set it to a high reading then apply minimum pressure it shows the current torque without tightening or loosening. It was around £600 though
