For me the best method is warm soapy water and a nail brush.

Stubs

Meth spirits and a soft clean toothbrush! Electric is quick...
DO NOT use water or soap

My mate member Blacknwhite (Bob), posted a tip for this a few months back, get a bar of vanish soap,it brings up leather brilliantly,I have seen this myself, his sandstone was ingrained with muck,we tried all sorts to clean it,including a steam cleaner, nothing would remove the ingrained dirt.
Purely by chance,he was using the soap for a different purpose, and tried a bit on the seat, and it came up mint.
Just use a tiny bit of water, enough to create a lather, then massage the soap bar directly on to the surface, then wipe with a clean dry cloth.
Honestly,it comes up like new,I couldn't believe the difference, when I saw his car,you would think it was a different interior
