Default Advice on fitting toe in bracket

Now I have removed the toe in brackets I have that sinking feeling that I have no real idea on refitting and so would like any tips you have.

Rave says:-

A line and an arrow is cast into the trailing arm to show the correct orientation of the compliance bush. The orientation of the bush is important to ensure that it makes correct contact with the toe adjustment bracket.
It also has a picture which I'll attach

Am I better to lay the trailing arm on the floor to fit the toe in bracket?
The toe in bracket looks to be at 90 degrees to the end of the trailing arm, is this correct.

I so hope those marks are there

I went through all that mark stuff in RAVE and never found the answer - it's clear as mud. (Posts 15-19)

The only marks that make sense are the ones you're supposed to scribe round the perimeter of the old adjuster brackets before you remove them - they can be used to get the new adjusters into roughly the same position.

You'll have to torque up the adjuster to trailing arm bolt off the car because you can't get to it when the arm & adjuster are on the car. I set my adjusters to what I thought the correct angle would be - I can't see any other way of doing it.

A thought occurs. If there's a typo in RAVE and "align bracket to marks on casing" should actually be "align bracket to marks on casting", then it starts to make a bit more sense.

Agh thaaaaat makes sense, thank you.
From the colour picture I take it there is a marking on the casting of the trailing arm and the base of the toe in bracket sits along the line.

I'd never have gotten that, thank you very much, really appreciate the help

Yes.

That's a photo of one of my new trailing arms. I noticed the mark/line in the casting when I first got the arms but I didn't realise what it was because RAVE left the t out of casting, twice*. It's only when you put the real thing next to the diagram that it becomes blindingly obvious.

The flange on the adjuster bracket should be parallel to the mark/line on the casting. (Not casing ).

* Whoever wrote that section of RAVE made a typo (no t), then they copied the sentence and pasted it in again - that's why the word 'casing' appears twice.
