I'm afraid Jaguar seems to have binned plans for future estates like the XF Sportbrake, instead they are going to produce more SUv's like the F Pace.
The American market were never big on estate cars which probably had some reasoning with their decisions. |

Pure opinion. The Estoura's do look great which is the reason they're not practical estates. But they were also poorly constructed & expensive, which didn't do them any favours.

They were, the station wagon. The likely problem would have been both cost and size. The station wagon was the staple of the suburban middle class housewife/soccer mom, until the mini van became the go to vehicle. A Jag estate, would likely have cost more than the Jagwaar of her executive husband, and something just to ferry the wife and brats to school or the mall just would not be right.

I believe the XF estate only sells around 9000 per annum so I guess no market for Jaguar estates?

There are some quite nice looking ones there- that S Type tourer is a very handsome car!
I imagine that traditionally Jaguar owners have no need for such a machine though; golf clubs fit very nicely in the secure boot of a saloon, I've never seen a Jag on a campsite, most owners don't seem to seem to want to lug their painting and decoating gear round Monday to Friday and then use the car as a family bus on the weekend. Besides, if a JLR customer does need a bigger car, there's always the Discovery for the dog to sit in the back of. I think (as you might be guessing) that until very recently the cars were designed to appeal to a more mature client base, bought by customers who were often old enough not to need kids space in the car, not 'sporty' or in need of a lifestyle statement' and so there simply was no market for a tourer/ estate. BMW on the other hand sold to the affluent younger market and so they could sell them. Just opinion of course
