Default Rear light fault

Hi all,
I have strange fault where the bulb failure light (rear light bulb is at fault) will illuminate every few days and then if i unplug and refit the light plug the fault will clear and the bulb will illuminate again but always comes back in a few days...
I suspect some slight water ingress is to blame but could it be an earthing fault?

Have you cleaned the contacts on the bulb and bulb holder, if not, try that.

If you suspect a poor earth, you can prove that I suspect by providing a new temporary good earth

It's normally the contacts in the plug that corrode due to damp, have a look and see if there is any green corrosion in the terminals.

Thanks guys, i think it is dampness inside the lamp rather than connector as lamp was 2nd hand from breakers. i think I will try changing the lamp unit
