These threads do not normally get a response BUT ,on this occasion , after reading through it.It basically just dredges up previous arguments for people to carry on "axe grinding "..I don't believe I have any enemies on here (hopefully)..So I have met Brian on a few occasions , very nice and incredibly helpful bloke with great personality and a wealth of knowledge , not just these cars ,but in general.Always ready with help.he has a quick wit and a blunt attitude ( as have I at times). As for the guy who was selling wurzel , never met him so cannot say anything either way.If all this leaving business is over the cost of a car and the obvious fallout from the thread , then it is a sad day .2 seemingly popular (for the most part ) car loving gents leaving a forum for what seems like just a disagreement on value of cars.
I wish both of them the best and if they don't return / carry on in the forum, good luck in whatever they find to fill the gap.
The one thing that doesn't help is the dredging up of old arguments ( regardless of who is right) ..So can we get back to wishing the O/P all the best , and I for one thank him once again for the help I have had at trikeys meet and again in the middle of Newcastle (on the week of my daughters graduation) ..Top man

I first met Brian at the Perth meeting years ago, and apart from a penchant for wearing slightly too short T shirts, I could see he was a sound bloke.

Since then, he has helped me on a few occasions, as well as being a fount of knowledge.

As someone who respects straight talking over flim flam patter, I think he will be sorely missed.

From what I've seen of the thread, it reminds me a bit of Airplane, when the passenger panics everyone lines up to have a pop at them.

Those in the queue have contributed a fraction of what Brian has over the years.

No one has been caught out at all if that were the case which it is not I would be I should have court for stealing copyright
I am happy to go to Court and prove who is right and who is wrong
Yes I did think it was a silly post.

And when my car was on a t4 it's ECU was copied with both my knowledge and approval. It was stored for potential future use should my ECU need to be reprogrammed. It is called good practice.

The insurance aware map, was installed and CREATED by the said t4 user. (Look up that word created, it is important to the complaint).

The storage of the data I referred to previously was stored by its creator (from reading how the theft was discovered). The data however was also stored by someone who did not have the right to redistribute it. Storing it though could be argued that it was good practice, and one I would wager Brian would have supported. It was said distribution that was the sticking point.

As for the 160 remap being invisible, it is invisible to most of the ecu readers out there. I’m sure you know that when you plug in t4 it scans for all the vin numbers stored in the vehicle, then if there is a conflict it will highlight this.

Maybe an airbag module that has been swapped out, maybe a clone from Mr ‘tidy shopper’

As for insurance companies being made aware, my motor trade policy covers me for any motor vehicle regardless of engine size, wheel plan etc so no worries there, my signature needs updating by Reebs as I don’t have access to that.

Just for the record, I advise anyone who comes to me for a remap that they should tell their insurance company, wether they do or not is not my responsibility.

Going back to the top of your post, Bill Gates I most surely am not, one thing I am though is honest and open about the things I do on peoples cars. Unlike some others that I have previously mentioned.

Trikey
Sometimes people get it wrong! People who have nothing to do with the situation stick their two penneth in and just because one person says something is true it becomes gospel cos Brian says so

eg if I posted you were a wife beater or worse and you knew this not to be the case how would you address it? It is one thing to be accused if you are guilty but something completely different if you are innocent.
I invited Brian to take me to Court and I heard nothing.

I invite you or anyone else on here to do the same if you think I have a case to answer!

I don't have and have never had a t4 so I wouldn't know!

Brian has other things on his mind and has made that clear on at least two occasions.

You may tell people about declaring the map to the insurance company but I'm not so sure about others
I don't have the car any more it sold for £2995 partly due to Brian's comments and accusations
I have no wish to fall out with anyone but I will defend my corner!

Don’t forget Steve, I meet up with Brian and Russ regularly and have seen evidence myself on another members car that came in for some work.

There are quite a few cars out there with the cloned ecu from tidy shopper.

And.. just how much was he charging to ‘distribute’ those clones?

The problem, of course, is that if you take those two descriptions and ask each person who belongs in which category, for the first all the fingers will be pointing at an angle other than -90 degrees from each first person!

I guess the reality is that, whereas at one time Rover ownership was associated with a touch of fairness, etiquette, class etc. it is now reflecting the real world.

A sad state of affairs but that is progress.
