Default New brake pipes fitted.

Had the ZTT on the lift the other day and noticed a lot of corrosion on the brake pipes, so yesterday i had them changed one end to the other (needed to drop fuel tank) and also they changed the lower engine mount. Car runs much smoother with new mount and peace of mind with the brake pipes!

The old (1990's) Rover brake pipes had a plastic coating on the exposed pipes. The later cars don't appear to have it. I coat my pipes in waterproof grease ( the blue stuff). It has been suggested to wipe it off before MOT time to avoid the wrath of the tester! I use ACF 50 corrosion block. I can't recommend the ACF 50 products highly enough. (used them on my motorcycle too)

I did wonder - my 620ti appears to have a coating on the pipes. They appear to be in great shape despite being 15 years old.

I guess 10 years is not that bad for pipes to last?

My MOT man does not disapprove of the grease coating.

Whilst my ZT-T was up on the ramps yesterday I gave the underside a thorough going over...

The front to rear brake lines had been replaced recently as they looked very clean/new but they've still been waxoyl'd for added protection!

Also coated some of the subframe sections and the rear arms after a very good wire brushing!

It's definitely a good idea to undercoat everything possible underneath - I'll be doing the same with my 620ti. Road grit, flying stones and general corrosion from rainwater will see the death of a lot of our cars, and a good coating gives them a fighting chance.
