Default Insurance - £40+ saved for sending an email

They have hiked the premium up steadily, since I first insured the 75 with them three years, so when the renewal came today - I asked them to requote it whilst keeping in mind that I would be seeking other quotes from other companies....

Back with the same cover, same insurco and £40+ cheaper and £10 less than they originally quoted me 3 years ago.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

It is a shame that many insurance companies seem to try it on every year.

I now have a look round every year, as loyal customers seem to get charged more than new ones, for the same premium

Banks too, they offer great interest rates for the first year, then it drops to almost zero.

I'm looking for a bank which just offers a steady realistic rate, year after year if any know of one?

I switch between AA and RAC every year to get the online new customer discount, the renewal quote is invariably more expensive. Ok, if I challenge it they agree to the same as a competitors online quote, it shouldn't have to be that way, they just try it on.

I use a specialist broker called Adelaide Insurance, they specialise in insuring HGV drivers of which I am one. Every year when insurance is due, I get a quote from confused.com. I then give my confused.com log-in details to Adelaide, they log in and look at my cheapest quote, match it like-for-like and beat the price by exactly £10. This year I paid £198 fully comp on my Rover 825. I'm expecting my forthcoming Rover 75 to cost more to insure but I'm sure they'll follow the same format.

it took me one phone to to my insurers to get the same level of cover (with addition guaranteed hire car) along with breakdown cover for £20 less than their renewal quote!
