No fish and chips left I’m afraid Dawn, Dave has eaten the lot (see the waistline)

Congratulations goes to Dave on sorting out Dawn's car.

I had an idea it wouldn't be that bad, these cars are a lot tougher than we think.

I have just read this thread from start to finish. You don't often hear of this sort of story any more, I am sure the members let alone Dave are walking a lot taller now than before. I repeat what another member has said in what a fantastic club this truly is. Shame on the garage for poor work and trying to take advantage of a lady on her own. Well done Dave.

A lot depends on the "Rover" knowledge. If you don't have the experience with the brand, they do not show up on "modern" equipment, so the inexperienced go down the "computer says" route and replace bits willy nilly

I bought a motorcycle in recent years which had been parked up due to lots of "faults" showing up on the computer screen. I brought it home, dried it, cleaned the carbs, fitted new plugs and it ran perfectly to the MOT station and passed!

Wet and damp weather can cause misfires which go on to throw up all sorts of other error codes from ailing parts, which, on a dry day, would not occur.

Well done to all participants. Great forum, great result.

This thread has restored my faith in humanity. Well done to everyone involved.

Roverbarmy, they are supposed to be an MG/Rover specialist And telling me it had to be waxoyled now or would need a bunch of welding has really got my goat. I bought the car about a week before my op, and was able to roll under it then. I didn't remember it being bad, and Dave has confirmed this.

Hi Dawn. and may I say well done to you and dave and the trike for correcting and rectifying this car's issues thinking of scrapping was not the way to go.

I thought this belonged to old pipe and slippers with the pool in Thrapston

mgzrjake, do you know the car and previous owner then? I have found he was a bit of a meddler and has caused me some issues with it prior to this!

I panicked when I got the quote, and all the talk of rot, to be honest. In my mind I didn't think it was rotten, but I knew I couldn't afford what they were saying, and I didn't know who to turn to or trust anymore.

Thank you to Dave for rectifying that!
