Mgzt fan issues
Mgzt Auto. Diesel.MK2
Recently replaced radiator and fan pack also fitted gold risister. Went to have a/c regassed vac test perfect no leaks gassed in a very short space of time went cold on the low pressure pipe then started to go warm, now not sure what was going on but the garage said air dryer could be faulty? So I drive it home down the motor way swearing to myself vents are now blowing cold air but not ice cold but still cold. 7 Miles temp in the middle I arrived home, left it running warm air returning pipe warming up again so is the car inside? I’m also waiting on fan kicking in which it doesn’t can anybody explain either issue or both before I lose the plot with it. I have other work to do rear discs and pads rear springs exhaust and mot so really don’t won’t to throw more in if I can’t sort this issue out. I will say a/c worked perfect before rad and fan replacement rad was changed due to a slight leak and fan was rattling, the last point I wish to make is my fan had 3 wires into the motor the replacement fan had only 2 with a silver resister fitted loom wires are exactly the same connections. Thank you in advance for any help or thoughts on the issue. JT Last edited by mgzrjake; 28th June 2018 at 09:04.. |

Just to check, is the control box lid on the replacement fan system labelled 'M47' or 'PWM2'? Simon

Hi I have replaced silver with gold as mentioned above but I’ve yet to see fan spin as I also stated my fab was a 3 wire into rear of fan while the replacement was 2 wire but both plugs onto body loom have the correct colours in the fan and body loom plugs?

You need to change the wiring in the control box if swapping three speed to two speed
I’m sure there is a how to on here somewhere

If the OP as bought a 2 speed fan for a diesel it should be plug and play, no wires need to be changed over, it sounds like the fan he removed with three wires was from a 1.8 petrol. Therefore the 2 speed he as fitted does it have a PCB board in the control box, as I doubt the three wire fan he removed did ? the OP need to let us know either way.

Re fan
Ok so 3 wire fan is the wrong one but this is still not explaining with a/c blows cold down the motor way but not freezing and stood still goes back to warm with a/c also changing temp ? I’m just not getting this

The A/C does not need the fan when driving at any speed. The airflow does the job. That's why it works when moving, but not when stopped.
