It should be plug and play, ie you can plug it in to the car loom inside the passenger wheel arch, lean it up against the car or get someone to hold it upright for you.

Turn your ignition to II making sure before hand that all the A/C is in the off position by pressing the off button, on the control panel, now press the demist button the fan should run continually.

If not then either the relay as gone or the PCB board is at fault, the brushes could have been worn right down but very rare on a 2 speed to have completely worn down, but personally I would change them, what we need to do is see if we an get this running.

Do you still have the old fan which you took off.?
yes still have the fan, will temp on panel need to be high on test

No. Use the windscreen demist button Jake (far RHS) for the test. This will guarantee that the fan is triggered.

Jake,

You may have a fault on the printed circuit board. There is a way to test this.
  1. In the control box, remove the connector with the blue & red wire from its terminal on the printed circuit board (PCB).
  2. Bridge the now vacant terminal on the PCB to the terminal next to it carrying a BLACK wire. Alternatively use the exposed terminal on the centre relay carrying the thick and thin BLACK wires.
  3. Turn on the ignition.

This should force the fan to run at fast speed.

Simon

Sorry for the delayed reply Jake, I had to go out.

If you heard the control box relays operating then that proves that the PCB is OK. The fault must lie with the motor or its wiring. We can check this too:
  1. Identify the centre relay, the one with the thick BLACK and GREY wires on it.
  2. Remove the connector with the two BLACK wires attached.
  3. Perform the next stage positively and quickly. Be prepared for some sparks. You don't need the ignition on.
  4. Briefly touch the removed connector with BLACK wires attached onto the GREY wire still connected to the relay. The motor should run at slow speed.

HI Simon.
Sorry for late reply I have been busy, yes the grey thin wire is connected to the same terminal as the blue/red wire, I have know this to to join further up the wire inside the conduit though.
