Default MGZT rad fan issues

Hi all hope we are doing ok. I’m trying to test the front fan on my Zt is there any sort of test to see if it works while outside the car after switching climate control on inside. Also do we have any links to the gold resistor upgrade as this car is still running the silver one.

Thank you and keep safe.

The basic 'Demist Test' will confirm whether the low speed resistor has failed. If yours is the original 'silver' type, it almost certainly will have. There are hundreds of threads about the Test which are listed here: https://cse.google.com/cse?cx=013872....0.NnxYmhL4nZo
Replacing the old resistor with the uprated 'gold' version is fairly straight forward for most DIY mechanics. It requires the removal of the front bumper. Again there are dozens of threads and YouTube videos covering how to do it. There are also threads on replacing the resistor and at least one illustrated guide in the HowTo section. You can obtain the gold resistor upgrade from forum traders, electronics outlets and eBay.

Thank you. Have looked for it but there’s that many I was hoping someone here could say this is what you need.

Hi JT.
With the diesel engine cars you turn ignition key to II with out starting the engine, press the demist button then look through the front grill to see if the cooling fan is continually running if so all is ok with the low speed of the fan, some have a silver resistor at about 2.0 oclock fixed to the fan, if the fan is not running and the silver resistor is present them 9.9% of the time that would need changing to a gold resistor.

If no resistor is present then you most likely have a four wire three speed fan, the test is the same if the fan is not running them most likely the low speed fan brushes have worn down, these can be changed but it is an intrusive job.

Petrol engine cars need to have the engine running to do the same test.

Please find link below which may help you.
