Suspect its the hammer price, too rounded and "clean" a figure to include fees, VAT etc.

I watched the auction live online.
Just to confirm £11.6 k was the hammer price.
Commission and any other expenes incurred would be added to the above cost.

Perhaps the winning bid did not complete the transaction?

From what I've read elsewhere, the sale was completed, and it's the successful bidder who is now selling due to "unforseen circumstances".

I think unforeseen circumstances means "the wife / partner / girlfriend found out and is not happy. The money was ear marked for home improvements and to save my bits and pieces and a lifetime of grief, I'd better get shot sharpish.".

Rear wheel drive cars love snow and ice when fitted with the correct tyres for the weather and I should know as I owned a BMW 335d in the winters of 2009 and 2010. The car was unstoppable and passed many 4wd and fwd vehicles which were stuck

My first experience with the 260 was in deepest January, going from where I bought it to BigRuss' place for a 2nd key. Russ' estate was polished compacted snow, no problem. Intermittent heavy snow showers all the way from Russ' place to Edinburgh, again no excitement. Also I had a 3 litre Omega (RWD) automatic, taking my wife to her work in heavy snow one winter evening. Cars were littered everywhere on a hill en route, drove past the lot of them.
