Is this my slave leaking?
Hi guys is this likely my clutch slave leaking? I had a leak from the under bonnet pump and replaced it (seems it actually just needed the pipe clamp replacing but hey ho) so presumed it was that but I've had issues with the clutch for a while now. Few weeks ago I took the rubber out of the master and cut it down to get some more fluid in there but after sitting on the drive for a week I went out this morning and had to turn round as I could barely get her through the gears and the biting point is almost on the floor again.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but yes, looks identical to my daughter's manual when it needed a new slave.

If you can get under the car, there's a drain hole at the join between the gearbox and engine. If the slave is leaking there's usually a fluid stain around the hole.

What I'll probably do is clean whatever that is off everywhere I can get to, then change the fluid and make sure the system is bled. If I get any more fluid or the pedal travels back toward the floor I'll know there's a leak. Any other thoughts lads?? |

Pin down a square of clean cardboard under the gearbox of your car on the drive. Brake fluid has a distinctive smell, different to engine oil.--A quick sniff at the stain on the cardboard should tell you what it is that's leaking.---
