Pre Production 75 Saved in Cornwall.
I have recently purchased a pre production 75 in North Cornwall, off the road since 2012 and stored in a garage, the elderly owner had given up driving. Luckily i got there just before the next buyer - a scrapman ! The car is a Wedgwood Blue 2.5V6 Manual with full leather and all the toys . Registered 1st March 1999 on a 'T' plate, it is very beautiful, almost immaculate interior, starts and runs, but very spongy brakes ! As there is no cambelt history I only run the engine for short periods until new belts are fitted.
It needs some work to the brakes and some other items but has much potential. I will post some pictures when I learn how, but in the mean time it is sitting in my yard looking very stylish and i am so glad I saved it. Last edited by Norman2CV; 30th June 2021 at 14:23.. Reason: spelling ! |

Good on you.
Good on you. The scrapman would have had zero sentiment as it was reduced to a shell. The trader I bought mine for was offered £250 from a nearby scrappy but declined on the grounds that it was worth saving and too good to scrap. Looking forward to seeing a pic or two.
With mine, that's two T Reg examples saved in as many weeks. Just a pity they are so far apart - a photo of them together would have been nice. As there's a sub group of members calling themselves the Moon Club for those with cars that have clocked up the miles to go there and back, perhaps us owners of T Reg 75's could form a similar sub group; we could call it the Tea Club. The Tea Club ! I like it ! It is great you saved one too. The scrap man had told the seller that he would take out the leather seats before scrapping the rest - gives me nightmares !
Very lucky that the car had some sentimental value to the seller as when i said i was an enthusiast and would save the car he said he would save it until I got there, - it was a fast drive up to North Cornwall ! An hour later and it would have been picked up with a hiab and that would have been its fate sealed. The serial number is an early one starting in 00, I havent put it on here as I am new to the club and dont know if that is against the rules ? The reg ends in JOP which I think looks great . I had better start saving my pennies for the new cambelts ! |

That is really interesting reading thank you. Looking at the dates of registration it appears some were registered some time after they were built. I presume some which should have been S reg were held back until 1st March so they showed the 'new' T plate. The serial number before mine was registered a month before so I presume mine would have be built very late '98 or early '99 . And sure enough there is a photo of it in 2009. So was known to the club back then.
I wonder how many other early ones are out there waiting to be discovered. |
