What a awful shame that such a lovely 75 is being sold as parts only. I would guess the insurance company has written it off as being more expensive to repair than its market value.
The damage looks light and in the hands of an enthusiast using secondhand panels could be repaired at low cost. I do believe if this was done then after a Fifa or Vifa inspection I think its called a new V5 would be issued.
If i didnt live so far away i would be trying to save it ! Just love that interior and those lovely seats !

The listing shows it as Cat B.

Ah interesting, Cat B means serious damage to body and or chassis so unable to go back on the road, must be worse than it looks. Another one gone.

Rover were absolutely insistant that the dealer launch cars were not allowed to be sold until they were six months old, I remember the conversation well. Big penalties for any dealer caught doing so we were told.
But, this is the motor trade we are talking about.

Steve.

Not a Rover 75 but back in 1996 I bought a dealer demo , possible a launch version of the brand new Rover 420SDi in Tahiti blue . I bought that car within its demo period
As the saying goes , the salesmen would sell the shirts off their backs to reach a target bonus !

Why do you think it's up for auction then Graham? The spares value I suppose. The category has to be a mistake though surely. The damage is certainly sufficient to render the car a write-off in the financial eyes of an insurance company but I can't see it being irreparable. The front valence is completely intact, damage being restricted to the level of the radiator grille and on the NS only!

Here's the car we're talking about.

Simon

Yes Simon the category does seem to be incorrect as the damage appears to be light and repairable easily by people such as ourselves.
To most people a 20 year old car is seen as end of life and there is a real move to rid the roads of them with the fuel changes and prices, the increases in road tax and the general spread of miss information telling people they are bad for the environment, ignoring the fact that the most pollution caused by a vehicle is in it manufacture and destruction.
There are obviously many desirable parts on this car and i guess one positive is that it didnt simply go through the crusher like many do.
If i wasnt so far away i would be seriously tempted to buy it and get independent engineers reports on the damage before repairing it with secondhand panels and trying to get it back on the road !

The listing states that it must be scrapped and a Certificate of Destruction obtained and submitted.

There bill of sale includes a clause to that effect. You could always call them and ask.

This from the listing. RESTRICTED SALE LOT. SEE TERMS - VEHICLES CLASSIFIED AS BREAKER ONLY. COPART WILL REQUIRE COPY OF COD.
