Which is what I've done, as did Trikey when I watched him and what he told me.

I also had a leak from the thermostat area in the V6 a couple of weeks ago.
The o rings were no longer a circular cross section. I replaced just the O rings and there is no leak there now, so it definitely wasn't any of the three thermostat components on this occasion. The biggest variable that seems the hardest to be certain of is the material replacement o rings are made from (in my opinion). On this occasion I used Viton. I also added an additional 2 x 1.0mm cross section o rings either side of the main o ring with a smaller diameter to reduce the space the main o ring has to 'collapse' into, in service, as the o ring grooves in the components aren't circular. These forums are a great way to solve problems collectively. Often there are numerous methods to achieve success. Some will find one method preferable to another. Really disappointing when threads descend into negative remarks. We are all on here to make life easier, not harder. |

How did you put the additional grooves in or do you mean the smaller rings went into the corners of the original groove and the main ring on top?

I have tried smaller rings into the corners of the original groove and the main ring on top.
