Last time I seen a Lada is at a Dodgy Garage near me (where I got stung a few years back with a Dodgy Fiat, less said the better) and it was a Niva.

The last Lada I read about was the 16 valve version - eight of them were in the radio.
I know I know, but the old ones are the best. TC |

I had two Lada saloons during the 80's really plain and simple motoring at low cost,
a 1500 and a 1600, here pictured in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park Never had a Niva always wanted one but the management said no . There's an updated version which currently doesn't seem destined for these shores. Jim |

I had a 1960 mk2 Ford Consul. It was factory fitted with a Ford branded valve radio. I upgraded to a transistorise unit a push bulb screenwasher and rear static seatbelts.

had exactly the same car (dark green) . radio was slow to warm up with a tingey orange backlight. pretty severe on the battery too when used. especially if parked with the engine not running. !!
