I've now sprung another leak. The thermostat is bone dry. In the pictures I'm looking up the front of the engine from underneath. Coolant is dripping off what looks like a cable mount but there doesn't seem to be anywhere wet above it that I can see. There is coolant around the edge of the hole where I've painted an arrow - I think it's coming from here and running onto that cable clip where it's dripping from. I did take a picture above it on my other phone which I'll upload separately. Can anyone assist? I'm feeling a little dejected now, as you do ...

Hi Billy,
Could it be the remains of the stream of coolant from the bleeding screw when you refilled and bled? Also check that the coolant level is no higher than the 'MAX' tab inside the expansion tank. Wipe off the drips and see if it recurs. Simon

No I don't think so I've been out in her a few times and the drive has been dry but this morning there was a puddle. I ran the engine up on stands and it's definitely dripping from this area, albeit a very slow drip. There doesn't seem to be anything dripping onto it from above although I may be wrong ...

Looking at your photos the drip is directly below the engine coolant drain plug, that would be my first port of call, when you refitted it did you add loctite 242 to the first few threads? HTH Paul

Ooooooooh good spot!! I did put lock tight on but I'll have a look at that when I get home later. I'll be seriously elated if that's all it is

I've had a quick look and it would make sense that it's dripping down from the drain plug and blowing back to that location. I applied loctite but it just has 'normal' written on the bottle. Is there something special about 242?

Loctite 242 is formulated for threads that can be undone again.
