"Best of British" 1981 Triumph Acclaim. Actually quite a nice car to drive and felt like a proper saloon. Blimey - can't remember the last time I saw one.........?

Default What car did you pass your test in ?

A Morris 1300. in 1973 I had 5 driving lessons from BSM [they didn't like the idea] as I had been driving for over 2 years on 'L' plates in a works van so I didn't need any lessons on 'How to drive' but required more knowledge on how to pass the driving test. I remember during the test the instructor asked me to 'face the car in the opposite direction by manuvering the car in forwards and reverse gears' Well you should have seen the road he asked me to do it in, it was about three car widths, so a tree point turn was out of the question and had to make it in FIVE with only one mistake--- forgeting to put the handbrake on before taking it out of gear. The second mistake was after he asked me to execute handsignals [had to do this in them days] so I duly stuck me mit out the window to signal that I was slowing down and I changes down a gear at the same time with my other hand letting go of the steering wheel!!!!
I was more than happy when he told me that 'I had reach the required standard for driving' I could have kissed him but thought better of it.

The officer past me but said when you get back to Blighty there is such things called traffic lights:lol:
I knew a mate of mine who was a clippie on the buses and was asked if he wanted to drive the bus. They put 'L' plates on the bus and passed his test on a bus. Nothing wrong in that you say, but he only had a provisional driving licence!!!!!
