Any 75/ZT boats out there?
Here in the antipodes, where's it's lovely and cold but not too wet, we're seeing some scary newsclips of floating cars, houses, people, uncle Tom Cobleigh and all in the UK.
Have any of you lost your treasured vehicles in these terrible floods? |

Nope but I took her for an 'under body car wash' in nice fresh water
I should add I live on one of the very few hills on the East Coast! Last edited by Zeb; 28th June 2007 at 07:36.. |

Ye Gods no! Thankfully The Beloved lives a good few feet above sea level and a long way from the Severn. I used to have a girlfriend whose house was on the banks of the Severn in Ironbridge gorge. Her house insurance was not cheap.........

Floods
Hi Roger
I live 3 miles from the Ulley Dam thats on alert and 4 miles from the village of Catcliffe where there is 6 foot of water, but I am lucky I live on top of a hill so I have no problems, only problem I have is trying to get from A to B Cheers Graham |

Not here. The Bedford Level engineers keep this part of the world free of flooding. It would take a major catastrophe and all their pumps to shut down for floodwater to overflow the banks of any of the drains. It could happen so I am keeping a weather eye on the weather. Living on the Fen rather than one of the islands is probably not the best idea but it sure is better than North London.

There was a detached house down on the river bank very close to the Ironbridge up for sale. It had been up for around £400,000 iirc and was when I was looking deemed unmortgageable and the agent said cash offers of £80,000 were being considered but that you would probably not get buildings and content insurance. That rather put me off buying on that side of the Gorge Do you know what conditions down there have been like after this weeks downpours? Ironically the area I live in now was once known as the Bog! |

I know the river has breached the banks again and the low road was flooded out in places. Her house was nearer the power station than the bridge by the way, lovely place but you needed to own a sandbag factory to be safe there.
Despite the flooding danger and the Sutton Heights bit of Telford being nearby I would love to move there. It really is one of the most beautiful parts of the world, right on your doorstep |

While taking a friend to look at his waterlogged Ford Fungus in brightside, Sheffield, There was a 75 parked still in the middle of the road. Poor thing looked like it had had a really hard time being bounced about and was a certain total loss, as was the Fungus.

Didn't lose a car, but had a few hairy moments in some of the deep water. Ironically, we were heading to the ferry in Hull. Thought maybe it should come to us!
Luckily it was a car from work, and Robin was tucked up nicely in the company car park. He did seem to get some water through the plenum, in spite of all drains being clear! |
