Not Happy with Ebay bids
I was bidding on this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rover-75-1...59.m1431.l2649 all of a sudden M***A 240 started bidding. Nothing strange about it to start with. But whoever it was pushed the price up Six times and was the winning bidder. I dropped the seller a text to say if it doesn't sell in still interested. The winning bidder cant get the car now i'm told because can't afford it. ???? so why bid if you don't have the funds. Although its a nice looking motor Im staying clear and will look for another 75 instead |

"Shill bidding" springs to mind. Shill bidder bids you up then drops out or ends up winning, then drops out. I've seen a lot of it.

Link does not work for me - brings up lots of small items.
Last time I bid on an ebay car, I set the maximum I was willing to pay and did not look again until the auction was over. And yes, I did win it. |

You also have to be careful that if someone has dropped out, for any reason, then the price bid is higher than if they had not started. I never get persuaded by a "second chance" offer. You can always set up a filter to see if it is offered again.

The winning bidder did 6 bids and 50.00 apart each time. That's what rang alarm bells to start. But hey ho i'm in no rush i've already got a fantastic 75 to keep me going for a while...

This happens all the time on ebay, if you check the bidding you often see a 0 feedback bidder, or they get pals to bid the price up.
Another trick is to keep the bidding private..you did the right thin walk away.. |

Try this one to see the bidding history. I got it by doing an advanced search of sold Rover 75.
