Default My 260 has poor sense of timing

I may have a problem. Went out to fill up with petrol tonight. Driving home from the filling station and up pops the dreaded 'check engine' warning icon on the dash.
I drove carefully the remaining few miles home and will try and get car into my local garage first thing tomorrow.
I'm supposed to be taking car down to Rick Bhullar on Saturday in Essex (a 3.5 hour drive from where I live!) so I suppose it's better than it happening 1 hour into my journey, but talk about bad timing!
I had checked the oil, fluid levels etc. as usual before driving, so maybe it's a failed sensor?
It's just been serviced by Nick at Austin Garages, and it had driven well on way back a week or so ago.

Mine was a fuelling issue when it did it, I had to replace the fuel pressure sensor (Rock auto have these on the shelf)

At least my 190 has the decency to die at a garage

Take off and re-install fuel filler cap tightly.

Default Troublesome 260

Tried that, didn't help

Checked fluids again this morning and noticed that the coolant level was down (I had topped it up yesterday before taking her out)

Anyway off to see local garage in 20 mins and hope they can take her
Wish me me luck!

Andrew

Default Poorly 260

Hello All

Turned out to be a LAMBDA sensor which had triggered (but then has not come back on after clearing with a code reader). So maybe I'll get one in anyway, but I can make my long journey down to Rick-Sta tomorrow

Thanks for comments & suggestions

Andrew
