Meguiars new headlight cleaner.
Recommended by neighbour. £24 Halfords,could be cheaper elsewhere. Just seen, £27 @euro carparts,£36 @ Amazon,so Halfords cheapest.

I tried this a few weeks ago & have to say it worked REALLY WELL. Surprised me to be honest. Found it a lot quicker & easier than other things I've tried.
Regards Paul

Did you take them off or do in situ?

Same as, although on a Mk 1 Probably easier to drop the bumper down as I found it a bit tight.

I got a very good result on my dipped beam lamps last month just using AutoSol on a damp cloth, which is only around £6 a tube.
They'd never been done before, in 16yrs, so I was dubious about the chances but after 30 mins effort on each side they came up looking like new. |

Autosol pluse low tech!
I use Autosol regularly and took the hint from the previous post - plus a bit of low/high tech. The headlights on one of my 75's were exceedingly 'foggy' so I worked thus:-
1 -Use high tech Sainsbury's Cream Cleaner - worked on with one of those washing up sponge pads that has a sort of hardish , rough green pad on one side ! This actually proved quite effective in removing most of the roughened headlight surface erosion. 2 - with a smooth cloth , worked hard with Autosol. After about 15 minutes on the two steps above the clarity of the headlight lense was quite amazing! 3 - to finish off , I worked over with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound I often use this to bring a brilliant finish on my car / remove small scratches. The final headlight gloss is remarkable - and one can achieve most of this with just steps 1 , 2 above. Have taken some photos but not yet worked out how to incorporate these into posts such as this I am afraid. Question - if I prepare everything as a word doc ( with photos in) and then copy / past it into a post on this forum will it all appear? All the best |
