Default Undertray finally Broken

after 15 years I've finally broken my undertray beyond recovery.

Caught it on something whilst reversing? .

Seen somehere there have been odd problems with the plastic trays now offered around ?.

Anyone fitted one of these ?.. its for my Diesel Auto..

ta

Chris

PS .. or has anyone got a decent original ?

If you can't get a decent second hand original these people supposedly made the original Rover undertrays and are still supplying them for £70 + P&P

I bought one a couple of months ago and it fits perfectly on my diesel auto with no fettling and has the sound insulation and heatshield fitted.

Rather than the cheap shoddy bare bits of plastic that are on sale on Ebay as new undertrays.

If required Steve Arctic supplies a pack of superior bolts, washers and spring clips which are far more secure than the original quarter turn ones which often cause problems with coming loose.

If you can't get a replacement I repaired mine recently using plastic from Under Eaves support Tray (used under roof tile membrane adjacent to guttering) I got mine from my local Eurocell branch, very tough and cheap. I used it to join across tears using pop rivets with a washer behind.
Just a thought.

my repair of 2 shaped aluminum plates and a good splodge of gorilla glue seems to have sorted it .. did a small test and ended up bending the ally and the the glue joint never broke .

Are there any issues with having the engine undertray missing?

Since its been off I get a fair bit more road noise in the car , and reflacted engine noise driving in town, also the underneath is bound to get a lot more dirty in the winter weather.

Mine's missing, the mechanic I use is a bit "old school" and when I took my 75 to him because the undertray was hanging off and broken and asked what I should do, he said "Rip the ****** ****** off and throw the **** in the bin, they're a ******* waste of space" which he proceeded to do.

I can sort of see where he is coming from because engines never used to have undertrays. I haven't noticed any increased noise but I suppose it's logical that the engine will get dirtier. Are there likely to be reliability issues?
