Default What is the best quality fuel hose you can buy?

As titled - I'm looking for the best quality fuel hose for longevity.

OK, not for a Rover 75 (most of ours are bespoke moulded job with pre-fitted ends) but for an Austin Allegro!

Factory original stuff (with exterior braiding) lasted 35 years.

Replacement stuff (ticker with internal braiding) only seems to last 2-3 years max.

So what is the best fuel hose I can buy that won't start cracking and leaking etc quickly and will instead last many many years?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Bolin.

Had the same problem when replacing the fuel hose on my SD1 Vitesse, standard replacement stuff blew up like balloons, literary. OK the Allegro isn’t efi but can understand your concern.

Friend had sample cuts in a petrol filled jam jar, some dissolved into a rubberised mess.

Ended up fitting Eberspächer hose, braided, worked well 20 odd years. Like this:

It's the ethanol that's in the fuel these days that kills the fuel hoses, I have similar problems on my classic bikes.

PTFE with stainless steel over braid, should last the life of the car. It can be folded and wont crimp, wont rust and is not affected by the ethanol. The downside is the price and it needs the ends fitted with compression fittings, no jubilee clips, they cant apply enough pressure. I get my local hydraulic company to make them for me. If you are connecting to a barbed connection just get the same put on the end and join the two with a short piece of fuel hose and replace it every couple of years.

I had exactly the same problem with fuel pipe cracking in a 3 or 4 years on my Jensen, it does not seem to matter on the quality of the pipe you use they all don't seem to last.

Take your old pipe in so it can be measured and my local guy usually makes them up in a couple of hours.
