Default Why do birds..........

target clean cars?

Spent time yesterday (between showers) claying my car, having bought the Mag-whatever stuff from Halfords. Then used their polish and cloth. Very impressed with the result, so not only do I now look back at the car as I walk away, I also rub the back of my hand over it. Smooooth. Sad, I know.

Still, back to the title. Came out to it this morning, SWMBO's Clio, needing a clean (get my priorities right, clean the 75 first) no bird deposits, but the 75, 3 huge splats across the bonnet. There just ain't no justice. Fortunately the stuff they provide for the clay lubrication they also say to use for other deposits, and it worked a treat.

But why does it happen????

Default Birds

I have just spent a couple of days in Sidmouth Devon. Parked the 75 and did not use use it for the two days.
When I went to collect it it was covered in Seagull droppings, what a mess!
Luckily it just stasted to rain very hard. after about 10 mins. car almost clean.
Like you say.. why does it happen..

My theory is this...: They can see their reflection in clean cars and so think they are doing it on a rival bird...either that or just to annoy you..!!

Come and Visit or Live here on the North Wales Coast, then you will know all about Seagulls and Swans dropping their last meals all over your Car!!
It always seems 10 minutes after Ive finished cleaning mine.

Why do they always pick on my 75 though eh?

They don't do it on my neighbour's Jazz, 607 or Focus!!

At least you only had two days of it. As JDC rightly states, living on the coast has it's pitfalls. Seagulls making a right mess of cars is one of the more infuriating ones. I recently cleaned the car as we were meeting up with SWMBO's parents and her uncle who was down here in Devon for a week and of course a shiny 75 never fails to impress. The morning we were going to meet them and the gulls had made a right mess of the bonnet. It boggles the mind trying to fathom what they must eat to make that mess! As soon as we got back, I had to rinse it off with the hose as it was so unsightly.

It's a pain after spending hours lavishing care and attention on the car...

I suggest we all be very grateful that pigs really can't fly.
