Default Clutch pedal problem.

Had a strange thing happen with the clutch yesterday om my 75 diesel. Dipped the clutch to put it in gear, pedal went to the floor, could not get it in gear and the pedal stayed stuck to the floor!! Had a fiddle around and managed to get the pedal to come back up, and hey presto! all was well again. Any suggestions anyone?

Hi Larry, this is such a common problem that there are pages and pages on the subject. Your symptoms usually mean a loss of fluid, or air in the system (hydraulic) Checks are:- Fluid around top of master Cylinder (above clutch pedal) or on carpet below.
Fluid around the cut-out in the gearbox at the lowest point. The second check is the more serious one, it means a leak on the slave cylinder inside the gearbox.
It needs to be checked because it will fail.
