Key Fob Replacement
The fob on one of my keys has seen better days as it's scuffed, tired looking and the lock button (or the half of it that was left) has just fallen off. There are plenty of new fobs available to buy so I intend to order a couple, but before I do I thought I'd have a play with the old one to see how to change the internals over. So I separated the two halves of the fob and carefully removed the board and 'chip' thingy, but how the hell do I get the blade out? It seems to be firmly attached with no obvious way of releasing it. Any help much appreciated thanks.

Mine just came out with a little "gentle" persuasion with a knife blade. They can be a little floppy so maybe someone in the past has put a little glue in there? If you're tempted to do the same then a blob of black silicone is a better bet.

Mine were tight too. They are not connected to anything so use a pair of pliers and twist and pull till it comes out.
When you put the blade in the new fob it may wiggle a bit (mine does) but don't worry, it'll still work. Just remember to change over the immobiliser in the back cover (grey block in it's own compartment). I just changed the button bit and used the old back

A quick hijack.
I'm in pretty much the same position. A fob that works perfectly but the rubber on the buttons is breaking away. This info is great. Where can I get a new fob to put the guts back into? One of our supporting traders? Who? Thanks in advance. Andy. |

However I've just been to the site to get a link and they've changed the layout and apparently don't do our type of fob anymore. Mat at dmgrs will probably be able to help

Oh while I think on, where the blade slots into the plastic housing there is a notch on one side, and a corresponding protuberance (can't for the life of me remember the word 'rib' at the moment) on the blade, so you can't put it in upside down.
