Default Mini Handbrake Mod R53

Little bump on this for those thinking of doing the modified handbrake over the next week or month of new year.

I've done this mod, it's certainly the way to go, I wouldn't call it a mod, it's a cure!

I have it on both of mine and is the compensator that the factory should have fitted from the start.

If you have an old brush handle to hand then yes. Check out Arctic's how to.

I did mine in about 20 minutes the second time i did it, although the first one took me a few hours. A good 45 minutes of that was figuring out how to get the back seat back down.

Mark as David says it may take a little longer than 20 minutes first time round, but you are in the right area to get help with yours at a nano meet.

HI Mark
Yes remove the two screws in the side of the console, lift the rear up and also the carpet expose the compensator remove the black clip to free the front cable, you then need to bend back the little retaining metal lug which keeps the cable in the track of the handbrake lever, this will allow you to remove the from cable and also feed the new cable (Mini R53 ) back into place, if you feel more comfortable removing the console then the job is a lot easy to replace the cable but of cause more time, then you reverse what to did earlier.

I have replied to your PM about collecting if you do then I can show you in more detail cheers Arctic.
