Your mesh can be reworked back to original once the bumper is off, you just need a bigger washer to hold the bottom part on and it's all very easy to work out how to fix when you see it from the "inside"

Great! Thanks for all the replies!

The moulding underneath the MG badge caught a bit of bird to but it looks not to have damaged the paint work to much.
