Default Insurance Renewal

Just had Insurance Renewal from Adrian Flux gone up from £479 to £487 so not a bad increase. Main problem is they are the only company prepared to quote me insurance on 2L Diesel remapped to 160BHP. I am near Heathrow post code UB4.
Anyone else had this problem? Can folk tell me who they insure their 160 remapped diesel with. Tried DarcyDog's broker last year quoted £900.
SAGA are sniffing around but would not quote me 4 years ago.

What ever you do DO NOT go through RCIB. I got thoroughly ripped off by them.

Don't think it's the word '160' that spooks insurance companies, it's more the word 'remap'.

Cool

Got my two insured with Lancaster. Finding a insurance company that wanted to take the V8 on was difficult.

Totally agree. There are lots of smaller cars with more BHP.

160 is not very much for a big old beast like the R75.--

REMAP makes them think you're a boy racer.---

Hi Harrison

I use Liverpool Victoria aka LV=.My cdti remapped is £425 fully comp. for wife and I with full ncb. They may be cheaper, maybe not, depends on all the usual factors, but worth the try.

I compared the market for all mine, they are all with different insurers but I don't pay more than £230 for any of them, my 1.8T is on fully comp with unlimited mileage and has full NCB but my V8 and my Turbo Tomcat are both on 4k miles and are both between £200-£230 fully comp. Tomcat only has one year NCB and V8 has no NCB. I need to look at getting a multicar policy really!

I think you’ll be lucky, when I was looking for “modified car insurance” it was pretty limited. Maybe half a dozen specialists but only two would quote, and of course Adrian flux was the cheapest. My car was much more heavily modified but I don’t suppose it made too much of a difference with them.
Other option is forget to mention the fact it’s been remapped, it’ll be half the price and it’s a t4 map who else will ever be able to tell??
