The SAIC engine is a TCI-Tech engine as MG Motor once told me.. son of the N-series. Totally re-engineered so I was informed by them

I think they're trying to distance themselves from the K-Series headgasket sega as best as they can. I'll accept it's a reworked K Series, but it's not "Totally re-engineered".

Hi,

I "discovered" this gasket for a while ago and started a thread on the other site to clear things up. You can find it here: http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=458695

This is the gasket for the N-series engine which also will fit the K-series. As I have read, it should be fitted together with the uprated oil rail and higher tensile bolts at a revised torque setting.

Anyone with experience with this gasket??

I was led to believe that the Nseries and Kseries head and block are manufactured using a different casting process and material compressive strength and/or heat treatment process.

Gravity casting for the Kseries and High pressure casting for the Nseries leading to a denser higher strength block overall. I would concerned about fitting the higher tensile bolts in the original lower compressive strength alloy, however less rotation is required of the bolts so perhaps same overall loading is applied

I wonder if the is a difference between the torquing process for the bolts between if this gasket is fitted on a fully blown MG Motor Nseries engine or a MGR Kseries engine?

Default Fitting the SAIC designed gasket to K engines

XPart market a kit designed to retrofit this gasket into the K series. It includes higher tensile strength through bolts and a stiffer oil rail. I've fitted this kit to the K series in my Rover 45, found it worked well. See how it's done and the revised torque settings here http://awj99.wordpress.com/rover-k-s...t-replacement/
