How to disable Auto Locking ?
Hello everyone,
Auto lock (speed lock) on my 2004 75 is driving me mad. I have tried holding the locking switch near the handbrake for 5 seconds - didn't make any difference. Has anybody finally found a way to switch it OFF? Thanks |

Try attending a meet where they have a T4 available. I think the Cheshire peeps have one sometimes, so do the Yorkies boys but they wont be meeting till next Spring..

????? But why on earth would you want to disable it.? Anti Hijack... Brilliant.... Well, i think so anyway..lol. Why not when the doors lock, just use the button inside the car if you don't like it.? Won't activate again until you restart the engine....Poppy.

Auto-locking
...I would love to have my 75 auto lock! Think it's a great feature. On my old diesel Clio, it's easy to enable / disable yourself.

Don't have it disabled!
a few years ago I was waiting in a queue of taxis in my 75 outside a nightclub at 2.30 am to pick up my daughter. 2 drunk idiots opened the back doors and got in thinking I was a taxi! After being told I was not taking them home and was not a taxi, I was abused for confusing them to the point of being physically threatened. When they finally got out one kicked the door! Its no big deal pulling the handle twice to open the door. In many countries you could not sell a car without this feature and I'm afraid that these days the UK can be as dangerous as most of these. I find it frustrating for these reasons:
1) The noise it makes when it locks the doors is loud and distracting 2) It doesn't unlock when the car stops, so I and my passengers may be having a medical or other problem inside, and the only way for someone to help would be if they smashed the windows. This worries me. 3) If I forget to press the button to unlock the doors, when I get out of the car the back door and boot are still locked. This has happened several times now! 4) I don't need autolock to retain the option of using central locking if I am concerned about the people outside the car. 5) Most carjacking involves methods in which autolocking does not help - such as the carjacker bumping into the back of your car so you get out to look at the damage and get insurance details, so having autolocking gives you a false sense of security 6) It increases use of the lock, so wearing it out quicker 7) It robs me of choice. I like having a choice. Every time choice is taken away from me, I feel a little more restricted. 8) I don't like having locked doors forced on me. 9) The lock button is a toggle, so if we're in an autolocked car and someone unsavoury comes toward us, my instinct would be to press the lock button, which would actually unlock the doors! Eeek! 10) I can't think of a tenth reason, but I wanted ten reasons..... |
